The existence of 4Pines was a mammoth task taken on by all too few people for the work involved. At times, when it all seemed too much & we seriously questioned our own mental sanity - we envisaged our beer taps & reminded ourselves:

We really, really love good beer!

All of this mostly crazy effort is a measure of our determination to bring the people of Manly a really good beer. In fact we wanted to bring the best pint of beer in Sydney and one day the best pint of beer in Australia.

We wanted to offer people great taste sensations through variety in their beer, quality craftsmanship, natural ingredients, traditional time honoured techniques (no short cuts) – something we felt we were missing locally – something we wanted to drink & that our mates would be proud of!

Our stamp; “Handcrafted beer brewed naturally” means in a nutshell that when you drink our beer you are getting the best of natures goodness.

Each brew is a 500 litre batch – It takes a lot of hard work from start to end & all happens on premise to provide you with a quality beer from the tap. Drop in during the day & smell the hops. Have a beer with us & enjoy watching it all happen - beer doesn’t get any fresher than this!

Brewed to the german purity laws of ages & ages ago, allowing only 4 ingredients : Hops, water, yeast & malt (we allow for the odd bit of mandarin, ginger & other natural stuff to keep the taste buds tingling) means all in all no nasties to keep you from your physical best!

Our beer has no artificial ingredients, flavours, additives, preservatives or fruit juice added. Nor do we substitute our quality barley with any rice, maize, sorghum or other more cost-effective adjuncts. Loving travel, we source our malts & hops from all over the globe to bring you these great flavour profiles which means…..its not cheap to make but its quality & best of all good for you!

We are reaching out to one group of people – those who love & appreciate good beer. Couple that with great food & conversation & we reckon you’re in for a great night!

Not wanting to leave anyone out, we did what any concerned host would – created 4 standard lines which vary considerably in taste & style so there is something for everyone! You’d be surprised by the amount of ‘beer haters’ we see sipping away here.

…..& just maybe (we considered) there is the odd person out there who is not a beer fan (argh) don’t worry, we have matched our boutique beer with a wine list of great quaffers.

Our goal however, is to introduce people who have never experienced such flavours & aromas, to craft beer – & turn them into beer lovers who have a genuine appreciation for how good it can be!

Being an expressive fellow, we also love to give our brewer the chance to indulge in his creativity so he doesn’t get bored (& to give everyone a chance to sample quality varieties of beer from around the world) we let him get his mash paddle out for a seasonal brew which (changes each season) & a specialty line where we like to ham it up in tribute to some beer festival or some party somewhere in the world that is celebrating the international love of this great beverage! Our brewing is much better than our ability to chose appropriate dress up outfits so if you are here on one of our party nights wondering about the people running around in crazy outfits – they’re our wonderful staff – all of whom we encourage to embrace their individuality so these outfits can get weird!

We also wanted to create an atmosphere that suits the people of Manly – casual but classy, warm & welcoming, innovative & humorous with a bit of education & information thrown in. No 3 piece suit & tie, every toe covered footwear & stylish hair do required here. We want you to feel at home, bring your friends, have a laugh, chat, lighten up - sit til you’re so comfortable you can’t get up (then we can trap you in for cleaning). This is one Sydney Brewpub that will only impress.

We get all warm & fuzzy inside by providing you with great service & greeting your friendly faces when you come back. The set up was a mammoth effort & the work didn’t stop there. There are heaps of things that go into the running of this business (a lot to keep your eyes on at once) so if for some reason, something didn’t live up to your expectation we would rather hear about it now than you leaving dissatisfied.

We want you to love our place. We are all about fun but serious about 4 Pines. We really care about the beers we are creating & providing a great environment for people to enjoy them + our great food in. We genuinely care about that. An awful lot.

We love being part of the craft brewing industry, which is a fun, free spirited industry dedicated to bring people the best tasting beer you can get. For every brewer who shares these values – we salute them!!! It comes at a cost though with breweries being hit with excise tax (no fun for small players) so when you’re throwing your beer back, feel good that you’re supporting the craft industry that promotes variety & keeps this wonderful nectar flowing!

4 Pines is first and foremost about enjoyment – beer is a treat. We owe it to ourselves to make that moment of sensory pleasure as good as it can be. Life is too short to drink anything sub standard.

We’re also into supporting & having a place for people (other than our amazing staff) to showcase their talents - so keep your eye out for the local creatives we have turning up here to entertain you with a magical act or some acoustic tunes. Our imaginations tend to run wild around here so there will always be new things coming & going for you to see, hear, taste & smell.
